I read the article and annotated it by highlighting it, and writing down notes on the side of the page. I talked about how I didn't think that the voting age should be lowered because I don't think that eight teen year olds are even ready to vote. Others in my group pretty much said the same thing and almost all of us agreed that lowering the voting age would be a mistake.
I didn't agree with the author when she said "Why stop at voting". I thought that if we lowered ages for other things like marriage, six teen year olds would be making a huge mistake. If adults are getting divorced a lot, then imagine what the divorce rate of teens would be. I don't believe that they are ready to make that decision at that age. The part that I did agree with was how there should be a test to see if six teen year olds were able to vote. According that you would be choosing the president of the United States.
A major point was talking about lowering other things. Such as lowering the marriage age and drinking. If we lowered the drinking age then that would be a major mistake because then teens would be more tempted to drink behind their parents back. And marriage is to big of a responsibility. Teens are still in school and there is no way they could help support that, especially if they had kids.

Vocab Quiz
In the e-mail it says that a lot of college students are pumped about Obama. In Iowa there was a Coalition of students who supported him, and he got a lot of votes from that state. Throughout Baracks campaign he has been very Progressive by gather college students to vote for him. In the article it states that he focuses on the youth too. Obama has gotten more votes from the youth then Clinton, and more than Mike Huckabee, the Conservative Evangelicals. Even though Mike got votes from Christians he still didn't get as much as Obama with the youth. In one of the state's students 17 who would be turning eight teen by the general elections were Suffrage. Obama also targeted his speeches to them because he knew he could get some votes from them too. Obama knew that if he could get votes from the youth then he would have a better chance of staying ahead in the elections and could possibly become Incumbent when the new president is elected. Being able to get youth voters to vote for Obama has helped him out a lot. Obama would change the economy, and has targeted his speeches to the youth to help him get votes. He would be Liberal to help change problems and make our economy better and focus help out students.

Reflection on election
During this mock election I learned a lot about the different candidates and where they stood for many of the main issues in the United States. I also got a better understanding of how important it is to vote so that ways you have a say in what you think is best for the country. Throughout class we talked about voting statistics, and how people don't vote as much particularly in eighteen to twenty five years old. This gave me a good chance to understand how important it is to vote.
I thought this was a really interesting project because I got to see and act out what it would be like to be a candidate in the elections. To me I liked how we did this instead of just reading about every candidate in the running for presidency. From the other students who were doing other candidates I could get information on them to if I wasn’t for what there opinions were I might change my mind after their presentation.
The only challenging thing that I had encountered was picking out what I thought was most important to my topic because economy had a wide variety of sub topics. I liked this project because to me it was something that I had never done before, and I was learning about something that was actually happening and could affect my future, depending on who is elected president. Before I had never really followed the elections just whoever won in the end. After this project I have been seeing who is in the lead and watching the standings more frequently.
